Are any of your tunes "officially" published? If not, there's probably not much chance of them of being used, unless you happen to know someone in the advertising business.
Publishing them sets up the official and legal framework for your music to be used/credited/etc by others. I very much doubt you'll get approached by anyone to use your music, even if it's brilliant, without that status. It MIGHT happen, but it would be extremely unusual.
Try looking at this website:

which should at least give you an idea and a start on how to go about all this. Good luck; hope it works out for you!

That's good news, and glad to hear you're local to me (I'm in Stourbridge)- keep flying the flag for the Mids.
I don't really know what else to suggest. Perhaps just sending copies to any advertising agencies might yield results eventually. I imagine there are many ways an agency might decide to use a particular tune; in some cases they obviously design an ad based specifically around a piece of music they already know whereas sometimes they just look out for music that may fit some campaign they have already come up with.
Maybe it could be helpful to find the webpages of artistes who have had their music used in ads already and just ask them for advice.
Another way "in" to this kind of thing might be to try getting the attention of amateur and/or short film makers. You couldn't really ask much in the way of recompense for this since these productions are low/no budget, but it would all help to get your name and your music circulated. And you never know; one or two of these budding film makers might make it bigger as time goes on and if you develop a relationship with them early on they'd remember your generosity and work as they grew.
If that appeals to you, try hooking up at Talent Circle (http://www.talentcircle.co.uk/) which is a good starting point.
As before, I wish you success- especially now I know you're a local
