kids choirs on ads
Hi, there,
I am a music journalist for The Independent. For a feature, I'm looking at the use of kids choirs in TV ads, the ones that are singing adult songs.
Would be great to find out the facts about examples: agencies, talent and the songs involved.
I would also like to hear any thoughts on how this started and why it is happening now. I'm wondering if it is connected to the rerelease a couple of years back of the Langley Schools Choir renditions of tracks like Space Oddity.
Cheers

Very simple how it started.
Company said: 'We want to make more money!'
Advert agency said: 'We'll use kids voices!'
Company said: 'Why?'
Advert agency said: 'Because people go "Aawww" when they hear kids singing and so makes them feel good and so improves your brand image.'
Company said: '$!'

Tis why Andrex use a dog to sell a product for wiping your arse on.

Thanks (et merci) to everyone that has contributed so far.
I'm not so much interested in kids singing per se, but them doing versions of more mature songs, just like on the Canon advert, which seems to have picked up in recent monthss.
So thanks very much for that tip. Any more? Deadine Tues morning.

That's like saying to a kid 'i won't take you to the park because a paedophile might be watching.'lindy loo wrote:I dont know about agencies and stuff but i have certainly seen the little rascals springing up on the classical music channel - maybe they are more prolific in adverts because they are the new generation of boy band. It cant be good w the increase in paedophiles in this country.

The agencies have made these ads so paedos don't need to go to the park anymore. They can sit at home waiting for the ad with the children singing "that's the way uh-huh uh-huh, I like it, uh-huh uh-huh". I'm pretty sure it's the paedo demographic they're after anyways. God knows who else is supposed to be into it.
