Can you tell us which song in The Matrix it's like? What TV show did it appear on? If there are no lyrics, are there snippets of vocals?
Does it have any unique instrumentation (apart from the air hammer) - does it use big orchestral strings etc?
A good starting point may be to investigate some of Rob Dougan's (of Matrix fame, and used a lot in Top Gear incidentally) work, specifically Furious Angels.
I'm willing to help - I just need a little bit more information!

If it is "Clubbed to death", it is by Rob Dougan & is used for the series "Law & Order", at least the ones featuring the actor Jerry Orbach.

No worries - glad you found it. I thought it might be something by Rob D by the way you described it!
If you find a copy of Furious Angels (I reckon you'll like it) then make sure you get it with the bonus instrumental disc. You'll find the track Furious Angels a little bit like Chateau from the other Matrix films...
Thanks for letting us know!
